Life-long intoxication...reading

Over the long weekend I attempted to transition my mind from teacher back to office worker.

My tactic? Hours and hours of reading.

I began and finished the third installment of the Dragon Tattoo series. Just like in the first book, there are some places where Larsson gets tangent-y - and the reader (me) is all 'who cares' - but overall it was a very exciting read that kept me up into the wee hours of the night turning page after nail biting page.

Then, I kept reading, moving on to a fantasy series for young adults.

Both books I own.

We know I can't possibly purchase all the books I read - and not just because I would most likely be killed in a book avalanche - and this is why I love the libs...but...sometimes...it is wonderful to cuddle up with a book you own, knowing that when you are finished it will go back on your shelf and remind you of the literacy filled trip you took whenever it catches your eye.

"This nice and subtle happiness of reading, this joy not chilled by age, this polite and unpunished vice, this selfish, serene life-long intoxication."
Logan Pearsall Smith
