It is fair to say that 100% of my posts about books should come with a *SPOILER ALERT

Do you know how long it takes to read 400 pages aloud?

A long time.

I don't know how those book on tape people do it.

We finally finished Dracula the Un-Dead.

I am so. Let. Down.

Don't get me wrong, the book is great. I loved how they took all the original Drac plot and characters and twisted them all around. I enjoyed having Bram Stoker as a character in this one. AND since everyone is all oh Dracula, that old thing, I loved the addition of a historical and twisted villain in Countess Elizabeth Bathory and Jack the Ripper.

And yes, I said singular villain but listed two names. Intriguing. Two words: driver-less carriage.

AND oh how the tables have turned because this time around? You are on Drac's side! And not simply because you want to punch most of the other characters in the face as the roll around Paris and London coming to completely incorrect assumptions.

It was definitely interesting to see what conclusions people make when not leaving room for the un-dead options.

Now, perhaps you are a little shocked that I am on Drac's side. But seriously, if you were a vampire who became a vampire during the Dark Ages and had a messed up childhood can you really be held accountable for holding on to an eye for an eye and fear begets control philosophies? Can you?

I was on board with everything until the last sentence.

That is when Dacre Stoker lost me.

That is when he made the choice to put the only character 'alive' (maybe) and some caskets onto a ship bound for America. That ship? The Titanic.

Honestly.

No words.

Just disgust.

"He prayed that the grand ocean liner, the Titanic, was as unsinkable as the captains of industry believed it to be."
Dacre Stoker, bad-ender of novels

"There were no vampires on the Titanic; didn't they watch the movie?"
